The Port System Authority of the Eastern Ligurian Sea is a non-economic public body of national importance governed by special legislation. The AdSPMLOr’s jurisdiction covers the ports of La Spezia and Marina di Carrara, both of which are situated on the Ligurian Sea but fall within two different regions, Liguria and Tuscany respectively. The AdSPMLOr’s headquarters are in La Spezia, with a regional port office in Marina di Carrara. The two ports, which provide employment for thousands of people, are strategic commercial hubs for a wide area and centres for major tourism, cruise and recreational boating activities, as well as industrial activities, including world-class shipbuilding facilities, and the maritime economy, mussel farming and fishing.

The Italian Shipping Academy, founded in 2005 and recognized as an ITS Foundation in 2011, is a body financed by public institutions which issues qualifications on behalf of the Italian Ministry of Education for the national tertiary education. The mission of the Academy is to provide specialized training aimed at occupations with high professional and technological contents, based on the needs of the industry, and in particular in the strategic areas of Maritime and Logistics industries. IMSSEA is the international branch of the Italian Shipping Academy, a not-for-profit organisation UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 quality assessed, member of IAMU, owned by public institutions, national associations belonging to the maritime cluster and includes in the Governing Board, as ex officio members, representatives from the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Education and the Italian Coast Guard. IMSSEA strictly cooperates also with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and several others international institutions.The Italian Shipping Academy owns two seats based in Genoa. Technical courses dedicated to navigation officers are held in its headquarter in Genoa, as at Villa Figoli des Geneys – an historical villa based 20km far from Genoa city centre – are held the courses for on-board services for passengers.The Italian Shipping Academy is the only Italian maritime education and training academy member of the IAMU – International Association of Maritime Universities, and it boasts several memorandum of understanding with other institutions: World Maritime University, Solent University, Plymouth University, BCA College, GIME. Italian Shipping Academy is proud Associated Member of IAPH – International Association of Ports and Harbors.

ALSEA – Lombardy Association of Freight Forwarders and Road Hauliers, with around 700 member companies operating in the provinces of Milan, Lodi, Monza Brianza and Pavia, is the largest regional association in the transport, freight forwarding, logistics, multimodal and related sectors. Founded in June 1945, ALSEA is a member of Confetra, Fedespedi, Fedit, Clecat and Fiata. In 2012, together with other Lombardy trade associations with which it actively collaborates, it participated in the establishment of Confetra Lombardia.

THE INTERNATIONAL PROPELLER CLUB -

Propeller is a cultural association that fosters connections and relationships between individuals and businesses involved in the Blue Economy; founded in New York in 1923, Propeller has 27 clubs and over 1,500 members in Italy, The La Spezia Club (and, from this year, also the port of Marina di Carrara) was the second to be established in Italy in 1990 and today boasts over 100 members, representing all sectors of the La Spezia and Marina di Carrara area in the fields of logistics and port operations, boating and shipbuilding, as well as cruises and tourism. The first president was Engineer Luigi Cuttica; Dr Giorgio Bucchioni was the man who developed it and made it the benchmark
for the port cluster for many years; the current President is Dr Gian Luca Agostinelli, who wishes to continue in the spirit of continuity, developing initiatives to promote Blue Economy entrepreneurship and to encourage, incentivise and foster their development. Propeller is particularly active and also organises missions abroad, as well as social events, networking opportunities and promotional initiatives.
