The Port System Authority of the Eastern Ligurian Sea is a non-economic public body of national importance with special status. The AdSPMLOr's jurisdiction extends to the ports of La Spezia and Marina di Carrara, both overlooking the Ligurian Sea but located in two different regions, Liguria and Tuscany respectively. The AdSPMLOr headquarters are in La Spezia, with a regional port office in Marina di Carrara. The two ports, which employ thousands of people, are strategic commercial hubs for a large area and home to important tourist, cruise and recreational boating activities, industrial activities, with international shipyards, and maritime economy, mussel farming and fishing.
